Garra International will be at Seoul Food & Hotel, aiming to grow its presence in the Korean market

Garra International will be one of the companies representing Brazil at Seoul Food & Hotel, the largest international food and hospitality fair in South Korea – and one of the most important fairs in the Asian market. The event will take place between the 7th and 10th of June, in the capital, Seoul.

With a population of over 50 million people, the country has the largest beef consumption per capita in Asia (80 kg/year), and more than half of this demand is imported – especially from the United States and Australia. Pork is the most consumed protein by the Koreans, representing 51% of the total, followed by chicken (28%), beef (21%) and lamb (0.5%).

“We are opening this important market for Garra’s exports,” says Matias Hees, CCO of the animal protein trading company. Today, Garra International exports Brazilian chicken to South Korea. Now, the company is planning to also start selling other proteins in the country, such as Brazilian pork, beef from Australia and Uruguay, and mutton from Australia and New Zealand.

In 2021, Seoul Food & Hotel received 460 companies from 17 countries and 12,227 buyers over the four-day event.

The delegation at the fair will be composed of domestic companies in the food and beverage industry, exporters, trading companies, sector entities and cooperatives. It will be at the Brazil Pavilion, in Hall 5, stand 401.
