Brazilian chicken exports Brazil registered a historic mark in 2022, reaching 4.82 million tons (fresh and processed products). The record number represents a growth of 4.6% over the total exported in 2021, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
Revenue obtained during the same period, in turn, increased by 27.4%, reaching USD 9.8 billion.
According to the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, the reconfiguration of the international animal protein market, marked by the effects of the conflict in Eastern Europe, the increase in production costs in the European Union and the sanitary conditions in the five continents, is among the determining factors for the record.
In December 2022, Brazilian exports of chicken meat totaled 386.3 thousand tons, down 6% in the annual comparison. Revenue from exports in the period rose 9.2% to USD 785.2 million.
According to an ABPA estimate announced in December, the production and export of chicken from Brazil will grow in 2023. Production should reach 14.75 million tons, while exports are expected to grow by 8.4%, to 5.2 million tons.
