China, Indonesia and Peru clear Brazilian meatpackers for exports

China has lifted bans on three Brazilian meatpackers, according to the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry. It also announced Indonesia cleared 11 Brazilian beef plants to export into the country.

Out of the three plants cleared by the Chinese, two are producing poultry meat. The other is a beef plant.

In a written statement, the ministry added China may clear another eight meatpackers to sell products into the Asian country after the lunar new year.

Indonesia opened its market for Brazilian animal protein in 2019. In 2022, the Southeast Asian country imported 20.6 thousand tons of meat from Brazil, with a total value of USD 110.4 million.

Exports to Peru

In the beginning of January, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) also reported that health authorities in Peru recently approved the first Brazilian plant to export pork to the country. The cleared company is a unit located in the Acre state.
