Chicken meat exports rise 5.6% between January and November

Brazilian chicken meat exports rose 5.6% in the first 11 months of this year, reaching 4.4 million tons of fresh and processed products, says the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

Revenues reached USD 8,976 billion in the period, an increase of 29.3% when compared to the same interval last year.

Considering only the month of November, Brazilian exports of chicken meat totaled 375.6 thousand tons, 12.2% above the registered in the same month of 2021. Revenues from shipments rose 29.1% to USD 781.3 million.

Ricardo Santin, head of the ABPA, says that, despite the good performance, the association expected even higher numbers in November. “However, logistics effects caused by landslides in roads in Paraná and unfavorable weather conditions for ships to dock at the Paranaguá and Itajaí ports impacted the month’s exports”, said Santin in a statement.

“As activities go back to normal at the ports, the volume that wasn’t shipped in November is expected to have a positive impact on December’s exports.”

China, the main importer of chicken meat from Brazil, bought 40.3 thousand tons of the product in November (+1.4%). Other highlights were South Africa (27.8 thousand tons, +21.9%), Saudi Arabia (24.6 thousand tons, +28.9%), and the European Union (18.1 thousand tons, +17.6 %).
