Brazilian poultry exports reach all-time record in 2021

Total raw and processed poultry exports from Brazil reached 4.6 million tons in 2021, an annual record, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

Exports rose 9% when compared to 2020, when the country shipped 4.23 million tons.

Revenue from exports grew 25.7% in the period, totaling USD 7.66 billion in 2021, from USD 6.9 billion in 2020

“The growth in exports was key to reduce impacts of the rising production costs, caused by an all-time hike in soy and maize, which are the main inputs in poultry production”, said ABPA’s head Ricardo Santin.

Despite the slight decrease in imports in 2021, China remains the top destination for Brazil’s poultry exports and is expected to retain this position. Other major trade partners like Japan and the United Arab Emirates are also expected to remain major buyers.
