Brazil and the US sign cooperation agreement in favor of free trade in poultry meat

Competitors in the global poultry trade, Brazil and the United States have agreed to collaborate to secure global movement and supply of poultry products. The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) and the U.S. Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) signed a cooperation agreement to work jointly in support of global free trade.

This agreement means both organizations will collaborate to address trade challenges, such as protectionism and sanitary issues.

The partnership also promotes environmental sustainability as a guideline for poultry production and trade, in addition to continuous support for industry growth and international trade in science-backed production.

The memorandum of understanding outlines periodic bilateral meetings between US and Brazilian representatives, aiming to foster information exchange and strengthen actions among producers.

Topics covered include animal health, availability of grains for feed and fuel, water use, biosecurity, food safety, waste management, environmental impacts, and more.
